On June 4, 2026, Groupe IDEC officially inaugurated its new office in Dunkirk, in the presence of local elected officials, representatives from the Dunkirk Urban Community, Dunkerque-Port, and its economic partners. This new location marks a strategic milestone for the Group, strengthening its long-term presence in one of Europe’s leading industrial and energy hubs.
Dunkirk: a European capital of industrial transformation
Long recognized as one of France’s major industrial ports, Dunkirk has now established itself as a benchmark territory at the European level. Battery gigafactories, low-carbon steelmaking, circular economy initiatives, and logistics and energy infrastructure: the region concentrates some of the most significant industrial investments on the continent.
According to the Dunkirk Urban Community, more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs could be created by 2030 thanks to projects underway in industry, energy, and port infrastructure.
It is in this context of unprecedented acceleration that Groupe IDEC has chosen to establish a lasting presence in the Dunkirk metropolitan area.
A multidisciplinary office serving the regiona
Located at 60 route du Pertuis du Môle 2 in Dunkirk, this new office brings together several areas of expertise within the Group: development, engineering, energy, real estate investment, innovation, and complex project management.
This integrated offering is designed to meet the needs of industrial companies, local authorities, and partners involved in the region’s transformation.
“The opening of our office in Dunkirk reflects our desire to be as close as possible to a major industrial territory undergoing profound transformation. Dunkirk embodies the challenges at the core of our expertise: reindustrialization, decarbonization, logistics, energy, and land redevelopment.”
— Patrice Lafargue, Chairman and Founder of Groupe IDEC
VERKOR and the Battery Valley: a long-standing commitment
Groupe IDEC is already involved in several major projects in the Dunkirk area. Among them, the low-carbon battery gigafactory VERKOR, inaugurated on December 11, 2025, illustrates the depth of this commitment.
Representing an investment of €1.6 billion, the industrial site has an initial production capacity of 16 GWh, with plans to scale up to 50 GWh.
Groupe IDEC has been involved from the outset, becoming one of VERKOR’s first investors in 2020 before contributing to the development of its pilot site.
Building on this experience, the Group now aims to support the broader development of the Battery Valley in the Hauts-de-France region and to contribute to other flagship projects such as Grain de Sail, which highlights the industrial and logistics diversification of the Dunkirk area.
An integrated model for complex industrial projects
“This new location marks a further step in our regional development. It will enable us to support industrial companies, local authorities and local partners even more effectively in their transformation projects.”
— Sylvain PAINEAU, Development Director
Groupe IDEC, a committed player in French reindustrialisation
With this new office, Groupe IDEC reaffirms its role as a leading player in the reindustrialisation of France. Alongside flagship projects such as the VERKOR gigafactory, the GRAVITHY development in Fos-sur-Mer, the Cailabs industrial campus in Rennes, and the support of COPAN in Vietnam, the Group is continuing its growth strategy in regions undergoing major industrial and energy transformation.
The opening of the Dunkirk office also aims to strengthen cooperation with public and private stakeholders involved in the economic transformation of the Hauts-de-France region, based on proximity and long-term local commitment.
